The countdown to Christmas for most of us in Manchester begins with the Christmas light switch-on taking place on Friday November 4th from 6:30pm in Albert Square. The show will be hosted by Key 103 breakfast DJ Mike Toolan, Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent and well known comedian Paddy McGuiness
The crowd will be entertained by a brilliant line up of performers including X Factor Champion Louisa Johnson, JP Cooper and the cast of Billy Elliot. It’s sure to be a jam-packed evening not to be missed and what’s more, it’s free! What better way to get you in the Christmas spirit?!
A few days later on November 10th, the annual award winning Christmas Markets open once again for their 18th year. The market opens at 6:30pm as the night closes in and the city centre streets are lit up by more than 300 stalls and chalets. Festive gifts, clothes, toys and jewellery tempt you as you explore the markets.
You can find all sorts of hidden treasures from French soaps, handmade leather bags and bonsai trees. Arguably the main attraction is the wide range of delicious festive food and drink, bratwurst, goulash, Paella and Hog Roast. This year there will also be plenty on offer for vegetarians.
Arguably the best and biggest Christmas market in the country and perfect for all ages, the ideal destination for any group outing. Make sure you get there before the market closes its doors for the final time this year on the 20th December.
Perhaps we’ll see you there!
